In view of the current situation that Tokyo was cancelled from area of ‘Emergency Declaration,’ Japan Arts Council will reopen the exhibition room of National Engei Hall on June 5, 2020.
We will take necessary measures to prevent spread of new coronavirus infection based on ‘Guidelines to Prevent Spread of New Coronavirus Infection for Museums’ and so on. We will let you know the details in time.

【Engei Exhibition】the 50th anniversary of the death of Enomoto Kenichi

2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the death of the comedy actor Enomoto Kenichi (1904-1970) who was popularly known as “Enoken”.
Enoken and his talented colleagues have continued to create new comedies and dashed through the Showa era, wrapping Japan in a whirlpool of laughter.
In this exhibition, we will introduce the history of Enoken, focusing on materials donated by his family members such as scripts and scores actually used on the stage, old theater programs and valuable photos.
