Japan Arts Council

National Theatre (Large Theatre)
Discovering Japanese performing arts for the future

For some years, the Japan Arts Council has spearheaded training programs for Japan’s traditional performing arts successors and young artists, in collaboration with its six affiliated theatres: The National Theatre, National Engei Theatre, National Noh Theatre, National Bunraku Theatre, New National Theatre Tokyo and the National Theatre Okinawa.
Later this summer, just prior to the closing of the National Theatre this autumn, a landmark event will be presented in the National Theatre’s Large Theatre in the Hanzomon district of Tokyo. For the final performance in this venue, those who have completed their training courses and been active as professional performers will come together in representing the best of each genre. Please make plans to join us – you will not be able to take your eyes off these moving and impressive stage performances as they seamlessly unfold, infused with the concentrated essence of each genre.
