Bonsan (The Dwarf Tree Thief)

A man enters the garden of a master who owns many beautiful bonsan (miniature gardens with trees and stones arranged on a tray). The master discovers the man and decides to play a trick on him.

Nue (Nightbird)

The spirit of the Nue, a monster with the head of a monkey, the tail of a serpent, and tiger-like limbs, tells the tale of its own death. Based on Minamoto no Yorimasa’s killing of the Nue in The Tale of the Heike, this masterpiece by Zeami depicts the sorrow of the defeated from the side of the Nue.
