Hikkukuri (Caught in a Sack)

A man wants to divorce his nagging wife. He tells the woman she can take anything from the house as proof of separation. She brings out a big bag to carry away her choice…

Yoroboshi (The Stumbling Beggar-Priest)

Shuntoku-maru, now a blind beggar because his father disowns him after believing some false slanderous claims, has come to Shitennoji Temple in Naniwa (Osaka), in early spring. There, he is reunited with his repentant father. A play steeped in great sorrow but offering hope even when tragedy seems the only outcome.
