FUMI YAMADACHI (The Cowardly Bandits)
Two mountain bandits have a falling out, their argument turning into a duel. They then decide they must write their wills, because fighting and dying in the absence of witnesses is a meaningless death. This conjures up images of their wives and children, and the two start to cry. In the end, they grasp each other’s hands and make up.
KOKAJI (The Swordsmith Kokaji)
Kokaji Munechika, a swordsmith, is commissioned to forge a great sword, but he has no one to work the forge with him. He goes to the Inari Shrine to pray for guidance, and a miracle occurs.
