YASUBE MUKOIRI (The Marriage of Yasube)
Hearing of the great courage of Nakayama Yasube, who defended his honor in a duel at Takatanobaba, Horibe Yahe , an Asano family retainer, makes Yasube his adopted son-in-law. In time, the free-spirited and loyal Yasube becomes well known, and he is finally called into the presence of none other than Lord Asano Takuminokami. Enjoy the outcome of this kodan episode.
KOMAMONOYA SEIDAN (A Verdict for a Vendor)
Koshiro, a small-time accessory vendor, is on the road selling his wares. He helps another vendor named Jinbe, who later dies at an inn. Unfortunately, everyone mistakenly thinks it is Koshiro who has died. When Koshiro returns home, he finds his wife has remarried. He goes to the magistrate to plead his case and receives a surprising verdict. A story with a funny rakugo twist.
YAWATA NO MAE (The Prompted Suitor at Yawata)
A notice promises marriage to the daughter of a wealthy and respected family to any man with exceptional skills. With the help of a mentor, a would-be groom goes, claiming to be skilled in archery and waka poetry.
