BUSU (The Delicious Poison)
Two servants are left to guard a cask which they are told contains the deadly poison busu. They are overcome with curiosity, tempted by its fragrance, and finally open the lid. An old theme with a new twist.
KANAWA (The Iron Crown)
So filled with malice toward her husband, who abandoned her for another woman, a wife goes to Kibune Shrine at ushi no koku (the midnight cursing hour), to seek vengeance. She is turned into a ferocious demon. The ensuing battle with Abe no Seimei, the emperor’s diviner, highlights the play.
