AKUBO (Akubo Mends his Ways)

A drunk Akubo treats a passing monk in an outrageous and disrespectful manner. So much so that when the monk sees the scoundrel has fallen asleep, he decides to take revenge.

TAMA NO I (The Jewelled Well)

In search of his precious fishhook, the god Hikohohodemi-no-Mikoto descends to the bottom of the ocean, where he receives a grand reception in the Ryugu-jo (the Dragon Palace) from the goddesses Toyotama-hime, Tamayori-hime, and Ryu-o (The Dragon King). The ai-kyogen during the play’s interval is Kaizukushi, which features the spirits of various kinds of shellfish, bringing gaiety to the banquet.
