HIKUZU (Tea Chaff)
Tarokaja is ordered by his master to mill tea chaff (left over leaves and stems after tea is winnowed). Grudgingly, he starts but gets bored and dozes off. Can he get the job done?
KAKITSUBATA (The Iris)
Irises are in bloom at Yatsuhashi in the province of Mikawa (Aichi pref.) where the poet Ariwara no Narihira composed a waka poem about his lover. The spirit of the iris flower appears before a monk. Dressed in a robe and headdress, the keepsakes of Narihira and Takako, she performs an elegant dance.
