JUKI (Juki the Clumsy Acolyte)

Juki, who recently entered the temple, must shave the head of his spiritual mentor. He literally tries to follow his superior’s teaching, “A disciple should keep a distance of seven-shaku from the master and never step on his shadow.” Respect can have a downside.

NOMORI (The Watchman of the Plain)

On the plain of Kasugano, a demon possesses the miraculous “Mirror of Nomori,” so explains an old man guarding the fields, before he disappears. Later, the old man, now a demon with the wondrous mirror, returns and in it he reflects the worlds of heaven and hell. Another masterpiece on a grand scale by Zeami.
