ONI-GAWARA (The Demon-Faced Tile)

A daimyo lord decides to make one last visit to the local Inabado Temple before returning to his homeland. Looking up to see the demon-faced tile on the temple roof, he bursts into tears . . . .

TEIKA (The Vine of Teika)

The love of Fujiwara no Teika for Princess Shokushi is so strong that even after they had both died, his love took the form of a vine entwined around the princess’s gravestone. This masterpiece by Konparu Zenchiku depicts the deep emotions and impermanence of men and women through the figure of the tormented princess.
