IRUMA-GAWA (The Iruma River)
A lord comes to Iruma River and asks a local man on the other side where the river is shallow enough to cross. The play features Iruma kotoba, or “Iruma lingo,” where speakers say the opposite of what they mean.
KAMO MONOGURUI (The Madwoman of Kamo)
A man has come to the Aoi festival at Kamo Shrine after traveling in the Eastern province for three years. There he finds his wife, who has gone mad out of worry for her absent husband. Featuring many dances, the play depicts the elegant celebration of early summer.
