NIO (The Fake Deva King)

A gambler who has lost everything, disguises himself as a Nio statue (guardian god at Buddhist temple gates) and tries to swindle worshipers of their offerings, but…

HAKURAKUTEN (The Tang Poet Bai Juyi)

Bai Juyi, the famous poet of Tang China, comes to Japan and engages in a discourse about poetry with the god of Sumiyoshi. Enjoy this performance, which features the ai-kyogen “Uguisu Kawazu,” a dance and song sequence by the spirits of a warbler and frog.
