A tale of conspiracy swirling in the world of ravishing women and unyielding vengeance
First performance in 17 years

This production, Kagamiyama Kokyō no Nishikie, stands out among kabuki tales of revenge, as most of its principal characters are women. Set amid the elegance of the inner chambers of a samurai mansion, this drama unfolds a dynamic and captivating story. The cast features celebrated performers, including Living National Treasure ONOE Kikugorō VII and ONOE Kikugorō VIII, who took the stage name May 2025. Please enjoy the National Theatre’s first performance of the year, featuring the refined artistry of female roles and the signature stylized beauty of kabuki!
