Masterpieces of Traditional Japanese Dance III – the last program of the Traditional Japanese Dance Performance series to be presented at the original National Theatre.
On this occasion, we are pleased to present to you the comprehensive charms of traditional Japanese dance through the fusion of Kabuki dancing, Suodori (dance without adornment) and Kyōmai (traditional Kyoto dance), including classic masterpieces and the revival of great works that premiered at the National Theatre.
As a finale celebrating the 57-year history of the Theatre as well as marking the start of our next chapter, the dancers who support and lead in this traditional Japanese dance field ― ranging from prominent veterans centering on the iemoto (grand master) of sōke (head family) to talented middle-ranking and young players ― will gather together. This is a one-day performance filled with the pleasure of colorful, profound traditional Japanese dance. Please do not miss out!
