Kabuki Performance in October 2026 — Part Tickets Available

Part Tickets are available for the Kabuki Performance in October 2026, allowing you to enjoy individual program of the production. They are also recommended for those who would like to experience Kabuki casually or see only the scenes they are particularly interested in.

At the National Theatre, we generally present complete productions so that audiences can fully appreciate the appeal of each work. However, we understand that some people may wish to “experience Kabuki casually for the first time” or “see just a particularly memorable scene.” Part Tickets are designed for such audiences, allowing you to enjoy Kabuki one program at a time.

The production featured is Honchō Nijūshikō: Takenoko Hori (The Japanese Twenty-Four Examples of Filial Piety: Bamboo Shoots). Centered on the conflict between an overbearing elder brother and his filial younger brother, this captivating work tells the story of the people surrounding the renowned military strategist Yamamoto Kansuke. The “Takenoko Hori” scene being performed this time will be presented for the first time in 27 years.

The cast includes NAKAMURA Matagorō, NAKAMURA Kinnosuke, ICHIKAWA Komazō, BANDŌ Hikosaburō, ICHIMURA Manjirō, NAKAMURA Kaishun, and others.

*Please note that sales of Part Tickets will end once the planned number of tickets has been sold. If tickets remain available, tickets for that day only will be sold at the performance venue from 12:00 p.m. until the start of Program B.

Please Note

• Please arrive at the New National Theatre, Tokyo (Playhouse) at least 20 minutes before the start of each program. If you arrive late, admission to the auditorium may be delayed.
• After each program ends, all audience members must leave the auditorium before the next program begins. Even if you have purchased tickets for both the Program A and Program B, you will need to exit the auditorium once.
• The start time of the Program B may be moved forward or delayed depending on the progress of the performance. Please arrive early.
• Audience members will be guided into the auditorium by staff. Until preparations are complete, please wait in the designated area in the foyer.
• You will be asked to wear a strap around your neck identifying you as a Part Ticket holder.
• Tickets cannot be canceled or changed after purchase.
• No Part Tickets are available in the wheelchair-accessible spaces.
• Part Tickets are for reserved seats in a dedicated 24-seat area at the rear of the first floor.
