Presenting 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo × Ningyo Joruri Bunraku

2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo (held at Yumeshima, Konohana Ward, Osaka City) is finally open.
The Japan Arts Council sees this as an opportunity to promote the appeal of Ningyo Joruri Bunraku, a traditional performing art born and nurtured in Osaka. We are contributing to a variety of programs to share it with as many people as possible.

1.Signature Pavilion by ISHIGURO Hiroshi—“Future of Life”
—Exhibition of the Bunraku Puppet Osome and Opening Performance—

The Bunraku puppet Osome is on display in the introductory room of the Signature Pavilion-“Future of Life”, produced by robotics pioneer ISHIGURO Hiroshi.
Supervision of the exhibit was provided by KIRITAKE Kanjuro, a close associate of Producer ISHIGURO.
This is a rare opportunity to see a Bunraku puppet up close—an experience usually limited to viewing from a distance in the theater.

In addition, on Saturday, April 19, an opening performance will be held at the Pavilion, featuring Ningyo Joruri Bunraku.
Bunraku artists from the April National Bunraku performanceYoshitsune Senbon Zakura will join the showcase to present an introduction to Bunraku puppetry and a performance of Sanbasō.
Admission is free, and no advance reservation is required (however, an Expo admission ticket is necessary).
We warmly invite you to stop by.
