KOSHI INORI (The Back-Straightening Prayer)
A young yamabushi (ascetic monk) visits his grandfather after finishing his religious training. To show his newly gained power, he starts to pray, hoping to cure the old man’s bent back. Grandfather may need a second opinion.
UTAURA (Poem Divination)
Having died and then coming back to life, a shaman-priest travels the land divining the fortunes of people using waka poems. An orphaned boy requests a divination, and it reveals that the two are father and son. Featured is the “Dance of Hell” performed by the shaman.
