    National Theatre Tokyo 55th Anniversary
    October 2021 Japanese Traditional Music
    Bunraku Sujoruri no Kai

Gidayū-bushi is well-known as theatrical music that is performed during a Ningyō Jōruri Bunraku (traditional Japanese puppet theater) performance. An event that highlights the joys of Gidayū-bushi, Bunraku Sujōruri no Kai, this performance with only a tayū (narrator) and shamisen player onstage has been receiving much praise. As has been done previously, this performance will be presented in two parts. An outstanding array of consummate performances by energetic leading Bunraku artists – also showcasing the challenges of young performers honing their skills with the support of senior members in performing together onstage – we know you will enjoy these four Gidayū-bushi masterpieces presented by various talented cast members!
